Right now, The Psych Drama Company is at an important stage in our development and in our work on our inaugural production, Hamlet. Soon we will sign the contract securing our performance space for fall 2011 and launch a major publicity campaign around this production. We are looking forward to holding auditions and beginning rehearsals in the next few months, recording an original score by Boston indie band Varsity Drag over the summer, and constructing a set, costumes, and props for performances in the fall.
Of course, there are many costs associated with these exciting developments. Renting a professional-level theater space in Boston’s
South End is a significant financial undertaking, and in order to sign the theater’s contract, we must be able to afford the rental costs as well as the insurance and box office services we are required to purchase. As production progresses, we must be able to fund the recording of Varsity Drag's music, the creation of our set, costumes, and props, and sound equipment for the performances, which is not included in the theater rental cost. Many of our production team members are dedicating their time to this project as volunteers and hoping to be
rewarded by a successful run of Hamlet and a future for our company. This cannot happen without outside financial help.
That's why we ask you to support our dream with a donation in any amount you feel you are able to give. Your support, financial and otherwise, means so much to us. If we receive enough money from donations and grants to fund our production of Hamlet, we can look
forward to a long, productive future and will be most indebted to those who were with us from the beginning.
